Advantame is an exciting new ultrahigh potency sweetener from Ajinomoto. Advantame is about 20,000 times sweeter than sucrose and has a clean sweet sugar-like taste. Due to its excellent taste and functionality along with very low cost in use, advantame can be used to partially replace sugar, high fructose corn syrup or other high potency sweeteners. Since advantame blends well with caloric and non-caloric sweeteners, it provides food and beverage companies with an opportunity to reduce calories and manage their sweetness costs. Maintaining the same taste profile is now easier with Advantame.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Advantame, an innovative new sweetener, for general use in foods and beverages. Advantame is also FEMA GRAS approved in Dairy, Frozen Desserts, Beverages, and Chewing Gum (FEMA #: 4716). Advantame can also be used to enhance many flavors such as dairy, fruit, citrus, mint, etc. and can be used to extend sweetness duration in chewing gum and improve the sweetness profile of many confections.
Ajinomoto has spent more than ten years in researching and developing the next generation of non-caloric sweeteners. Advantame is the first of the new sweeteners and sweetness enhancers that the company intends to introduce to the market in the next few years.
